 Do you accept insurance?

I am not on any insurance panels at this time. However, I do provide invoices on a monthly basis that can be submitted to insurance companies for out of network benefits, or to flexible spending plans. Many flexible spending plans consider services provided by Clinical Psychologists to be qualifying expenses. Please find out whether this is the case for your flexible spending plan.

What is your cancellation policy?

I have a 48-hour cancellation policy. If you cancel your appointment less than two business days in advance you are responsible for the full session fee incurred, as I am often unable to fill slots on shorter notice.

Do you offer phone and/or Skype sessions?

I typically only offer phone sessions in the case of an emergency. Please keep in mind that if we consult by phone, you must be located in New York State as per licensing restrictions. Also, many insurance carriers do not reimburse for phone or virtual sessions.

Which types of issues do you have the most experience in treating?

I work with many couples so have a good deal of experience with relationship issues. In addition, I have formal training and experience in several types of short and long term therapy (Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Family Systems, Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Community Reinforcement and Family Training, and Group Therapy) for various clinical presentations. These include anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, substance misuse, and ADHD, along with relationship issues.

Is there anything you don’t treat?

I can assure you that if I don’t feel qualified to help you with what you are struggling with, or think someone else can do a better job, I will provide you with very good referrals to practitioners who can help.
Doctors of all kinds (physicians, Doctors of Philosophy or Psychology, etc.) are human and, like everyone else, need to know and be honest about their limitations.

Do you prescribe medication?

No. Clinical Psychologists have doctorates as opposed to medical degrees and, as such, do not prescribe medication in New York State. However, research and the experience of many (though not all) people suggests that medication can be a useful and important adjunct to treatment in the case of various clinical presentations. If it seems you may benefit from taking medication, I will refer you to a psychiatrist to discuss your options. I collaborate with many psychiatrists with varying specialties.

Do you believe in other and more holistic forms of adjunctive treatment, i.e., exercise, meditation, acupuncture, yoga, etc.?

Yes, very much so. I believe in an integrative approach to treatment and am open to discussing and incorporating them.
